ReykjavikIf you´re wondering where to go next year keep this in mind. According to Lonely Planet Iceland is among the 2010's Best Value Destinations. The list captures the world’s hottest travel trends, destinations, journeys and experiences for the year ahead, bringing together the expertise of Lonely Planet authors, staff and travelers.

Icelandair will be facing some competition on its transatlantic route but Iceland Express will be operating from Newark Liberty International Airport (New York) as of June 2010. Iceland Express is an established low-cost operator that already flies between Reykjavik and more than a dozen cities in continental Europe. This is a good news for the budget traveller as, according to NY Times flying long distances on a low-cost carrier can mean savings of 50 percent or more in economy class compared with the fares charged by a conventional airline.
