Is the society open towards gay people?

E-mail Print PDF

Gayice.is articlesIceland is considered very open and friendly towards gay people. Tolerance towards gay people is good and gay bashing is seldom heard of. In the past 30 years much has been achieved in making gay men and lesbians visible in Iceland and that has worked a lot against prejudices. Gay couples have no problem walking hand in hand in public and Reykjavik Gay Pride, which is the 3rd biggest event in Iceland, attracting well over 50.000 people every year, is in a way a family event.
