Reykjavik Gay Pride has finished but Gayice.is has kept a good record of what was happening during a week of fantastic and fun events. Gay Pride weekend had an early start with Iceland´s most entertaining competition, The Iceland Drag Contest (Draggkeppni Íslands) where Iceland get to choose the King and Queen for the year.

The Gay Pride 2012 kicked off Thursday night (August 9th) at the University Theater. Among performers where The Queer Choir (Hinsegin Kórinn), dancers Ásgeir & Brad, The icelandic electro band Sykur, singer Friðrik Ómar, cabaret addicts Viggó & Víóletta and the group BETTY from USA. 

Reykjavik Gay Pride 2012 

The Saturday Gay Pride Parade marks the peak of the Gay Pride weekend when thousonds of Icelanders and foreign visitors gather in Reykjavik city center to watch the colorful parade walk by and show support to the gay cause.

The outdoor concert at the end of the Gay Pride parade is the most popular event during Gay Pride weekend. Handfull of local and foreign artists perform each year making this one of the biggest outdoor events in Iceland. Performing this year where Icelandic musicians Páll Óskar, Sigga Beinteins, Friðrik Ómar, Blár Ópal, Birna Björns, Þórunn Antonía, Friðrik Dór, Helgi Björnsson, Hafsteinn Þórólfsson and Viggó & Víóletta and US rock band BETTY.
