Reykjavik came second in the 2017 World Outgames bid with Miami winning the bid. "Ofcourse we wanted to win but it didn´t happen, not this time", says Ingi Thor Jonsson Reykjavik committee spokesperson, adding "we might try again for the 2021 games".
Those participating in the bid all agree that despite not winning this time something good will come out of this. Ingi Thor says he´s already been contacted by Eurogames committee regarding the 2018 games, so we´re excited to see what happens.
Jón Gnarr, Reykjavik´s Mayor said despite not winning all the good work put into the promotion has earned the city a well earned attention. Being in the final put the spotlight on Reykjavik which will help us in the future and will open a lot of opportunities for Reykjavik.
