The Samtökin ’78 Happiness Run is a joyful and colourful running event where people come together to celebrate diversity, show support and raise funds for the important work of Samtökin ’78.

The run takes place by Elliðaárstöð and offers two distances: the 7.8 km Happiness Run and the 3 km Joy Jog. This means that both experienced runners and those who prefer to take part at a gentler pace can find something that suits them.

The event is held in connection with the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia, and brings together movement, joy, solidarity and visibility. All proceeds go towards the work of Samtökin ’78, which includes education, counselling, community activities and advocacy for LGBTQIA+ people in Iceland.

The Happiness Run is therefore not only a sporting event, but also a celebration of solidarity, human rights and joy.
