Iceland Express and Reykjavik Gay Pride are teaming up for this year´s Gay Pride with Iceland Express sponsoring Reykjavik Gay Pride 2012. With the support Reykjavik Gay pride will be able to invite artists from abroad to perform during Reykjavik Gay Pride weekend which is August 9-12, 2012.
Since first held in 1999 Reykjavik Gay Pride has grown to something so much bigger than anyone ever dreamed of. In 2000 the event grew from 2.000 people to 20.000 people and since then it has only got bigger. Last year (2011) was the biggest so far with around 100.000 people showing up for the Saturday parade and the outdoor concert in Reykjavik´s city center. Considering the fact that Iceland´s population is just over 300.000 this is a fairly good show up!
