The International Gay and Lesbian Aquatics will take place in Reykjavik from May 29th to June 2nd 2012. The event is expected to LGBT athletes from all over the world and is expected to be one of the biggest Aquatic sport event to be held in Iceland. The event is organized by the local LGBT sport organization Styrmir which is dedicated to the cause of encouraging gay men and lesbians to participate in sports and Pink Iceland, Iceland´s first LGBT travel agency. The City of Reykjavik, Inspired by Iceland (Promote Iceland) and the Icelandic Swimming Association are all proud sponsors of The International Gay and Lesbian Aquatics. Rainbow Reykjavik Festival 2012
Rainbow Reykjavik LGBT festival is kicks off tomorrow February 16th with a trip to the Blue lagoo, Northern Lights tour and a Welcome party Reykjavik Rainbow festival offers a wide range of fun events and activities including cultural events, History walk around Reykjavik´s city center, sight seeing tours, music, food and dance. This is the first time the festival takes place in Reykjavik and will definitely spice up the local gay scene.
Concert not to be missed: Paul Oscar & Lay Low at Harpa
The upcoming concert with Páll Óskar (Paul Oscar) and Lay Low is something not to be missed. This is a great opportunity to see two of Iceland´s finest artists performing live of stage in Harpa music hall. The concert is part of Reykjavik Rainbow Festival which opens February 16th.

Cafe & Club to unite and new gay venue to be opened
Queer Cafe Truno and Club Barbara are to be united into single gay bar/club as of early February. Both venues are located on Laugavegur 22 and the united venue will continue to do so. Barbara has occupied second and third floor on Laugavegur 22 while Cafe Truno has been serving the more quiet audience during the day and early evenings on the ground floor. The new venue will have it´s home on the ground floor on Laugavegur 22. According to owners afternoon and early evenings will stay true to the spirit of Truno with Barbara taking over after midnight. Queer Is Where The Heart Is art exhibition is to open at the National Queer Organization, Samtokin '78, January 21st. Queer Is Where The Heart Is is a an art exchange between Iceland and the US that explores the many nuances of queerness with a special interest in how queerness relates to place. As a transitory and ever-evolving identity and social group, roughly defined by what we are not, queers are no strangers to claiming place – making home where the heart is — often in the margins, with fluid definitions, in self-defined categories, relationships, and places.
